The IUCN is concerned with the provision of linkages between EU institutions and other stakeholders in Brussels, such as Governments, CSOs, Zoos, Academic Institutions, Foundations, Research Institutes, and Museums. Based upon the science-based orientation of the organization the goal is to connect and engage in policy dialogues to improve conservation policy and action.
The Office in Brussels specifically focuses on issues of biodiversity, nature conservation, climate change, ecosystem service, nature-based solutions and the circular economy. The IUCN advocates for urgent policy development at national or local level towards their Member States. The organization is further concerned with the implementation of the Paris Agreement and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
